Sample Email - COPPA Compliance Form

We envision this email being sent from the Principal or PB Administrator to parents/guardians

Dear [X GRADE] Parents/Guardians:

We are writing to let you know about an exciting new project that our [X GRADE] class is participating in. It’s called FirstRoot and it is a Participatory Budgeting program.

Through the program students learn about financial literacy. Students will develop ideas for a school improvement project and will choose ideas for our school to vote on.

[FUNDS SOURCE NAME] has donated money to fund this project. Students will use an app called FirstRoot where they will get to share ideas and get feedback from others about potential projects. Students in [X GRADE] will then vote on the project ideas and then implement the winning ideas.

In order for your student to use the FirstRoot app we must have your permission if your child is under the age of 13. If your student is under 13, you will need to fill out the attached google form to either give your permission by opting in your student, or opting out if you do not want your student to have access to the FirstRoot app. In order to vote, they need to use the app. To participate in the full experience it is beneficial for students to use the app. If you have any questions or concerns please contact our school counselors [NAMES]
